Marian “Nan” Gunderson, MSW,
LCSW, CADC III
Nan Gunderson is a licensed clinical social worker that has worked
with adults, adolescents and families that experience mental health
and/or addictions issues. She uses therapies that can be implemented
effectively in 10 - 12 sessions. She stated the components of
treatment
include education, coping skills training, emotional expression,
cognitive restructuring and planning for future challenges.
Nan emphasizes strengthening positive behaviors and reducing
behavioral difficulties. For substance abuse issues, she encourages
12-step recovery or other support groups to supplement individual
and family therapy.
Nan received her master's degree in social work from the University
of Chicago. She and her family have lived in California, Alaska and
Portland, OR before moving to the Rogue Valley in 1995. Nan has
practiced as an EAP counselor, a mental health therapist and medical
social worker during her 25 years of clinical experience.
Areas of interest are (but not limited to): Anxiety, Bipolar
Disorder, Pain Management, Substance Abuse, Partner Abuse and
Victims of Trauma, Phobias, and Women's Issues.
Models of Therapy include (but are not limited to): Brief Therapy,
Group Therapy, Crisis Intervention, Behavioral Therapy, EAP,
Substance Abuse Intervention, Individual Therapy, Christian
Counseling and Family Therapy.
